The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery recently released its annual statistical report on the cosmetic surgery procedures performed in 2014. When they listed the top 5 cosmetic surgery procedures, liposuction claimed the top spot followed by breast augmentation, eyelid surgery, tummy tuck and nose surgery. According to the report, 342,494 liposuction procedures were performed in the U.S. last year. The ASAPS report indicates that lipo continued to reign supreme as it did in 2013.
This popularity could be explained by the wide acceptance of the procedure and the introduction of advanced minimally invasive and non-invasive techniques that have made body contouring safer, quicker, and more effective. A good surgeon would choose the right technique based on your goals and physiological factors. Laser liposuction using Smartlipo Triplex is minimally invasive and blends safety with efficiency. In addition to removing stubborn fat deposits from large and small areas, the technique also offers amazing skin tightening effects.
A report from American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) also indicated similar trends. Even when liposuction was listed third in the ASPS list of top procedures after to breast augmentation and nose reshaping, its popularity rose. The demand for the body shaping surgery rose by 5% with 210,552 procedures being performed in 2013. Compared to this, the top two procedures in the list showed a decline in demand of 1% and 2% respectively.
Liposuction has found application not only in body contouring procedures but also in treating medical condition such as gynecomastia or overly large male breasts. It is an important element of packages such as a mommy makeover and bridal rejuvenation packages. In fat transfer breast augmentation, the patient’s fat removed via liposuction is injected into the breasts to enhance volume and shape.
